Volume: 103 files Collected for: The corpus of essays was drawn from the annual National Post-Secondary Russian Essay Contest (NPSREC) sponsored by the American Council of Teachers of Russian (ACTR) Additional info: The proficiency levels are indexed as instructional hour ranges. Level 1 includes heritage learners who received less than 100 hours of instruction, level 2 between 100 and 200 hours of instruction etc. (2023-01-20)

Notes Prompt What is a friend? was used in the year that the current data set was compiled. The data are collected in similar settings, i.e., in a classroom under the supervision of a participating teacher, with the same constraints and affordances for all participants: one hour of time is allotted to all and no use of dictionaries or other outside sources is allowed.
